MUSIC CAMPERS!

Mrs Cox has shared a gorgeous update about her time at Music Camp last week! Well done to everyone who went...

"Last week some of our Year 5 musicians were lucky enough to be chosen to attend this year's Music Camp run by our very own Nottingham Music Service. What a fantastic time we had. We stayed overnight at the beautiful Ilam Hall in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. The beds were comfy, the countryside setting was stunning and the food was yummy. We even got a full English breakfast! There was two days full of singing, dancing and instrument playing. We learnt rhythms, songs, notation reading and got to play in a 130 strong orchestra before leaving for home. When we weren't in the classroom doing our music lessons, we were outdoors discovering all things musical through games, activities and quizzes in the grounds of Ilam. Apart from playing in the orchestra, by far the most memorable event was the very exciting night walk. In the silent pitch black, we scoured the grounds and surrounding village listening out for the Phantom Trumpet player, who is known to visit these parts on occasion. No one knows what he looks like, but we were lucky enough to hear him playing from afar, somewhere in the trees. A great time was had by all and J'Quan won a Certificate of Excellence award for clarinet player of the camp! We were all so proud of him. Don't tell the mum's and dad's, but we all actually wanted to stay there all week it was so good!"
Here are a couple of video links of their fantastic experience:
